It’s funny how once a year, here in the US, people gather to give thanks. For some, it might be the only day in the year they do so. It is still better than not giving thanks, being grateful, or appreciating what we have in life.
So many times, people look at me and are in awe about my positive attitude and outlook on life. My response usually is: It sure does beat the alternative! Most of the time, I get an initial confused look in return. Sometimes it is just a split second. Generally, it is long enough for them to realize what I just said and engage their thoughts.
Yes, I could focus on all the health diagnoses, on my childhood, on the news, or all the other not-so-great things going on in my life and around me. Understanding how the Laws of the Universe work, I’d only be asking for more of that which I do not want!!!! Why would I do that???
Some of you might think and say it is because of conditioning. You are not wrong. Conditioning is a huge part of why we do, think, and say the things we do. They are habits. Things that run on autopilot until we pay attention to them. There is a reason our lives are the way they are! We are responsible! Maybe not for what is happening, although I do believe we are, but we are most certainly responsible on how we react!
For the first 40 or so years of my life I fell into the victimhood trap. No matter what was happening in my life, I asked: Why me? What did I do wrong? Why is this happening to me?
Along with: When it rains it pours! I have the worst luck in the world. It may be good right now, but the other shoe is about to drop for sure!
All those negative thoughts and sayings ruled my life UNTIL (I love that word!!!) I learned about shifting my thinking and learn to appreciate what I have. Don’t get me wrong, I am still dealing with the health issues and other stuff, but… things are much better and are getting better every day!
Over the last few years, I have learned to look for the good in everything! Yes, sometimes, I have to look longer and harder, but I always find it. You see, there is ALWAYS something to appreciate and to be grateful for in any situation. Sometimes, it is as simple as: I am still alive!
From there I ask: What is the lesson I need to learn here? What is this trying to teach me? What can I do to move forward? How can this help me?
All that we have and are experiencing in our life is making us who we are! Without certain lessons we learned along the way, we would continue to run in circles. In some areas we are still wondering what is going on, and others, we have learned the lesson and moved forward.
Appreciating even the smallest of things in our life, can make the biggest of difference! When was the last time you marveled at the architecture of the buildings on your way to work? Or appreciate the fact that you can see them? We take so much for granted without ever stopping to pause for a heartfelt ‘Thank You’.
We are so conditioned to only find and see the negative. When was the last time you said thank you to the bills you get to pay? Hey, I can see you rolling your eyes right now!!!
Why say thank you to your bills? Simple, you are paying for a service that is being provided to you to be comfortable in your house! Heat, water, electric, etc. You GET to pay those bills because you GET to have those services!!! I bet most of you never looked at it that way….
My point here is, adopt an attitude of gratitude to even the simplest of things and see your life transform! It does not mean that all your troubles will go away, although they might, what it means is that your life will become far more pleasant all around. It will raise your vibration and with that, you’ll attract better things, people, and circumstances.
Focus on the things you can do and have instead of what you don’t have and can’t do! Remember, what we think about, we bring about!!!!
Life is great, getting better! Every day is a gift to be grateful for!
You are above ground, vertical and breathing… everything else is icing! 😉
