We help people who feel weighed down by debt and life’s struggles find relief, hope, and a way forward. We’re here to lift burdens, support healing, and remind folks that happiness really does matter — especially when life feels hard.
Our first focus is forgiving medical debt, because unexpected medical bills are one of the biggest reasons people fall into financial distress. Through generous donations, we purchase portfolios of unpaid medical debt — and then we simply forgive it, no strings attached. It’s a powerful way to lift a burden and offer someone a fresh start, quietly and compassionately.

How it works…
We purchase portfolios of delinquent medical debt at a fraction of the original value — and then we forgive it, no strings attached. In fact, just $10 can wipe out approximately $1,000 of debt — that’s real relief, made possible by donors like you.
But we don’t stop there: a portion of the funds also goes toward mindshift coaching and support services, helping people rebuild hope, shift their outlook, and create a path toward long-term freedom and happiness.
Because of the way debt is sold, we can’t accept individual applications for forgiveness or choose whose debt to buy — we acquire portfolios in bulk, and the people whose burdens we erase are often complete strangers. But that’s what makes this beautiful: your generosity helps people you may never meet, offering them a fresh start when they need it most.

Every dollar you give can erase approximately $100 or more of medical debt. For example, a $100 donation can forgive about $10,000 in debt for struggling Coloradans.
Medical debt continues to burden over 1 million Coloradans, threatening financial stability, well-being, and sometimes even housing security. While new laws help protect credit scores, the debt itself remains — and can lead to lawsuits, garnishments, and severe stress. We offer true relief: permanent forgiveness and peace of mind.
Yes — while our mission is focused on medical debt relief, this work can help reduce housing insecurity and financial crises that may lead to homelessness, especially for low-income families already living on the financial edge.
Happiness Matters Foundation is a Colorado nonprofit corporation with IRS 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status pending.
Donations made now will be fully tax-deductible once our determination is finalized — and donors will receive retroactive donation receipts at that time.
The IRS typically grants retroactive recognition back to our incorporation date or application date.
Yes. While HMF was lovingly incubated within MoP, it is now a legally independent nonprofit with its own leadership, mission, and funding.
